Important Swim Notice

The swim course for the Rotary Multi-sport RiverFest, while very rewarding to all who complete it, is very challenging. It requires participants to adequately train and prepare before the event.  In mid-September, the current is starting to pick up again after the summer lull and water temperatures drop to an average of 61 degrees and sometimes colder.  Swim coach Mat Hudson has prepared a thorough Swim Guide specifically for our course, based on his own experiences and that of others.  Please read it carefully.

Anyone who registers for the triathlon and later decides not to do the swim is welcome to switch to the duathlon. This option will be open up to and including the day of the race.  If you wish to change your registration now or at any time before the day of race, please email rotaryriverfestsalem@gmail.com and we will make that happen.

In the interest of safety, we will have kayaks, paddle boards, and motor boats along the course.

Coach Mat will be leading several FREE River Clinics on the river this summer to help swimmers to prepare for the course.  Please note that a certain degree of pool training is required before attending these courses — you can read all about it by clicking on the link.
